Making a Curry

By

I have always had an interest in making my own curry but for whatever reason have never gotten around to it! Maybe it was just laziness or maybe it was not having easy access to the right things to give me the encouragement to do so.

However, I have recently given it a go and thought that I would write up an article to describe my experience with the possibility that it might make others think about giving it a go.

I started by buying the curry spices online. I’ve not thought about doing this previously but can’t see why! It was easy to do and didn’t need to leave the house to go to a crowded supermarket which I hate doing!

I bought a curry called Secret Sauce. With this I included some ginger, onion and garlic which I had in the cupboard. I boiled this and after I had let it simmer for half an hour, I placed half in a plastic contained for freezing and put the other half in the fridge.

To create the Madras, I friend a sliced onion in 2 tablespoons of hot vegetable oil in a pan until it was clear then I removed it with a spoon. I upped the heat of the pan and added some Madras spices while I stirred for a minute. 700g of diced beef was added after that too.

After the ingredients had browned, I added half a pint of the Secret Sauce that I had bought from a website that sells curry spices, a table spoon of tomato puree, somem chopped tomatoes and friend onions. I boiled everything then left it to simmer for an hour. After this, I needed to leave the mixture for four hours before re-heating.

I served the dish with some plain rice and coriander leaves. Yum! I was so pleased with how good it looks and it could have been served in an actual curry restaurant!

Have anyone tried making a curry recently? Can you recommend any good vegetarian recipes?
