Marine LED Lighting

The Rules
The rules for naval navigation have defined the required distance to which marine lights should be seen (also referred to as luminous range). This also covers the required brightness of the marine lights your boat has.
Many boat enthusiasts, as well as naval people, have shifted from the old marine lights to marine LED lighting. This is because LED lights are brighter and requires lesser power to run so can be useful for almost any kind of companies too such as those that sell photography accessories or construction companies.
Great Example of Marine LED Lighting
Industrial Purposes
LED lights have been used for various industrial purposes for a very long time. Apart from the indicators, they are also used for neon signs, outdoor electronic advertisements and traffic lights.
LED lights are viewed by many as cutting-edge lighting technology, offering better performance compared to incandescent and halogen lights.
Longer Life Span
Marine LED lighting has a longer life span than traditional marine lights. This means you won't have to change it as frequently as you would your old set of boat lights.
Apart from longevity, marine LED lights are also highly durable, with good shock resistance. This is important since marine LED lights tend to see a lot of action as the boat moves into the waters.
Cooler
Marine LED lights are relatively cooler than the traditional boat lights, making it safer to handle. It neither burns the skin nor does it emit UV rays. Because it does not produce UV, your boat's paint job is not damaged.
Marine LED lights come in a variety of colors and produces more light per unit of energy.
Meets Naval Requirements
To make sure that your marine LED lighting system meets the naval requirements, there are a few things you have to remember.
For instance, according to the set rules of navigation, the required intensity of your boat lights is based on the length of your boat in meters. The rules also state that the lights in your masthead must be highly visible even at a two-mile distance, while your boat's sidelights have to be clearly seen within a mile. Likewise, your anchor light should be clearly seen for two miles.
Measure your boat from the bow to the stern at the center. Do not include the motor or any other things extending from the hull. To convert the size of your boat from feet to meters, multiply the length in feet by 0.3048. That is, if your boat is 15 feet long, its equivalent in meters is 4.572. Here, 4.572 is the product of 15 feet x 0.3048.
